Giralte de Bruselas et al., The Main Retable at Oviedo Cathedral: Detail, the miracle at Cana

This relief illustrates the miracle in John 2, when Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding. The bride and groom sit in the upper right quadrant. In the upper left Mary explains to Jesus that the steward has run out of wine. The sculpture pictures five jars, not the canonical six, and as usual in such images they are not the big stone affairs described in John 2:6.

The small figure in the lower right corner is the St. Andrew, identified by his X-shaped "cross saltire." Like Andrew, the figure in the opposing corner is barefoot and holds a book, characteristics of Apostles in Christian iconography. However, this second Apostle has no other attributes.
